4WD Clubs News FAQs (frequently-asked questions)
Category: Main -> Web Site Stuff -> Login doesn't work QuestionAnswerI enter my Username and Password but it does not let me in?The Association site uses cookies to manage connections, and access permissions. It needs to keep track of your credentials as you move around the site. If it looses track it locks you out. This is primarily to protect the user, and avoid unauthorised use of your login. It also enables us to maintain short persistence cycles, allowing users to login on machines they do not control, without having to worry about the next person who logs on getting unauthorised access.
These days to get value from the Internet, we need to be able to recognise sites which use these technologies legitimately. To play it safe, it is best to implicitly enable cookies only for sites you can trust.
To get the full benefit of this site, you should set your Privacy settings to allow cookies from http://4wdnsw.org and http://4wd.org.au If you are using Internet Explorer v6 this is done as follows:
In Internet Explorer,
- click the Tools menu, then Internet Options
- click the Privacy tab, and then the Edit button near the bottom left.
- In the Address of Web site box type 4wd.org.au and click the Allow button
- Repeat for 4wdaus.org then click OK to close the Per Site Privacy Actions window.
- Next click on the Security tab in the Internet Options window.
- Click on the Trusted sites icon (green circle with a white tick)
- Click on the Sites button
- Untick the “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone
- In the “Add this Web site to the zone:” box type: http://4wdnsw.org and click the Add button
- Repeat for http://4wd.org.au
- Click OK. And then click OK to close the Internet Options window.
The next time you attempt to logon, the site should recognise you. Back to top
